Gia Minerals was created by Georgina Tzavaras, a former teacher who had searched everywhere to find a natural, organic cosmetics & skincare line for her sensitive skin. She used her extensive background in chemistry to devote time and experience to formulating organic beauty products, which are truly 100% natural and unique in the industry. Gia Minerals is a destination of clean, green beauty for the smart, confident woman. Georgina’s goal is to create awareness for all ages: working toward an organic beauty movement to empower and educate women & men.
What’s your favorite part about running Gia Minerals?
My favorite part about running Gia Minerals is that it allows me to bring out my creativity. I love being in the lab – it energizes me! It’s a hands on approach, curating all the delectable colors and watching them come to life.
What sets Gia Minerals apart from other lines on the market today?
We feel that nature has given us all we need to look & feel beautiful. In leu of this, we are never random in our approach & formulations. We like to go one step further by pushing the envelope, working closely with ethical farms to source sustainable ingredients. We visit each location, interacting with the growers to see and learn how each ingredient grows best.
What was the first product available to customers to purchase?
My Antioxidant Mineral Foundation. I was not able to find a foundation that offered good coverage with natural, organic ingredients. After struggling with my own skin sensitivities, I deeply wanted to create a cleaner foundation and this was it. We need to offer a big thanks to our Mineral foundation because that’s how Gia Minerals was born!
Of the products you make, which is your favorite?
This is a hard question because they are all my faves. I guess if I really had to pick it would be the Antioxidant Mineral Foundation. It’s a product that I definitely wear every day. It offers amazing coverage, with good antioxidant ingredients that don’t compromise on performance or efficacy. The waterproof foundation does much more then cover; it’s a beautiful “good for skin” formula that provides a flawless complexion, protects from sun damage and leaves skin looking radiantly fresh.
What is your morning routine? evening?
Morning routine – The first thing I apply on my face after my shower in the morning is the Youth Elixir Beauty Oil. It has the yummiest smell and really cheers me up. After that, I apply the Olive Nourishing Moisturizer followed by the Antioxidant Mineral Foundation. I always add bronzer to cheer up my dull complexion (I actually use my darkest foundation, Espresso, for my bronzer) and a blusher for a flushed cheek (I love color on my cheeks). Last, I darken my eye brows with Tierra Dark Shadow followed by a couple applications of our Natural Lash Mascara. Oh, and did I say that I don’t leave the house without wearing a lipstick? This all takes me about 5 minutes, but it’s my hair that always gives the problems!
Night Time Routine – This is where we all should spend a little more time on our skin, but we don’t & we get a little lazy. The first product I use is the Green Tea Cleanser to remove all my makeup (even mascara). Then I apply my Equalizer Anti–Aging Serum and the Youth Elixir Beauty Oil. (Some like to apply the oil before moisturizer, however, I apply it after the moisturizer.) The scent of the Youth Elixir has such a zen feel to it and is very relaxing before bedtime.
What 3 tips or tricks can you share for feeling and looking your best?
I drink lots of water and follow a Mediterranean diet. Being Greek, I was always taught to eat healthy fresh vegetables and include all the food groups in our diet. I wasn’t raised on frozen food – everything was always cooked fresh. But, really, most importantly make sure you enjoy & have fun in life. Nothing says glowing skin or good health like when you are surrounded by friends & good wine, laughing and joking. Balance is key in today’s busy lifestyle, and I really think this plays a role in how we feel and look.
What’s a trend in the wellness/beauty industry you’d like to see grow?
I don’t know if you will call it a trend, but definitely including more oils in beauty regimens. For the longest time oils were a ‘no-no’ and not used. Oils are so beneficial in our daily skin routine. Both my grandmothers had great skin and I remember they applied olive oil on their face and body daily. It’s all about going back to the basics with ingredients that help nurture skin straight from mother nature.
What beauty trend would you like to see disappear?
Without hesitation, Contouring. People feel like they need to drown their face in foundation and contouring products in order to achieve a flawless finish, which is so not true. Who actually has time in the morning to sit in front of the mirror and go over so many steps just to contour their face?! Try using a more natural foundation—and less of it—while adding warmth to the face with a powder bronzer. Not only will this look more natural but it will speed up your routine, too.
Any beauty/wellness myths you’d like to bust?
Don’t apply oil on oily skin. Certain oils actually aid in oily skin! Its about educating the individual and allowing them to discover organic beauty products that work with their skin’s structure for maximum results.
Serious stuff. Which ingredients do you avoid at all costs?
We carefully select our ingredients and source them where they grow best to get the maximum results. Because we care, and we want you to feel good about what you are putting on your skin, these are ingredients you will not find in our products:

We all know healthy beauty starts with what we put in our bodies. What 3 tips can you share about beauty from the inside out?
- Eat fruits & vegetables high in antioxidants and rich in vitamins such as blueberries, pomegranates and dandelion greens. These offer wrinkle-busting antioxidants.
- Omega fatty acids truly are a remarkable ingredients for overall health. They serve as the essential building blocks of skin’s surface layers, creating a smoother, more even, younger-looking complexion, no matter your age or skin type.
- It’s time to give Vitamin D the attention it may have always deserved. In its active form as Calcitriol, Vitamin D contributes to skin cell growth, repair and metabolism. It optimizes the skin’s immune system and helps destroy free radicals that can cause premature aging.
What do you do to stay active and why?
I love yoga because it provides a balance to my mental and physical mind set. Walking is a daily ritual that allows my creativity to flow. I also love to swim! I hit the pool and do laps. I love the water; it has a fresh, cleansing element about it.
What’s the hardest or most important life lesson you’ve learned?
Perseverance & patience. Perseverance equals success. You can accomplish a lot by trying. Trying to do something is usually the hardest part, and if you keep going you will be surprised by the results. You can’t lose if you refuse to give up. Sometimes there might be unease and thoughts may be clouded. If you find yourself worrying about something figure out a way to prevent or handle the situation – focus on a solution instead.
