Nail Tips for Colder Temps

Colder temperatures can be especially harsh on your nails, hands and cuticles. Exposure to the elements not only dries them out, but can cause them to flake. It’s so important to take extra care during the colder months, to prevent breakage and maintain healthy nails. We asked Lauren of Lauren B. Beauty to give us her pro tips for winter nail care. Read on for her top nail tips for colder temps to keep fingertips strong and healthy all winter long.

Amp up Your Nail Care at Bedtime

I generously lather my hands with my Lauren B. Beauty Nourishing Hand Creme, every night, before bed. Then I put on my Lauren B. Beauty Reparative Cuticle Oil so that it can work its magic while I sleep. I keep it on my night stand so its easy to reach and apply before bed. You can do the same for your feet and put on a pair of socks to lock it all in while you sleep.

Keeping Treatment Essentials in Your Bag is a Must

The skin around my nails gets really dry and peels easily in chillier weather, so I constantly apply my Lauren B. Beauty Reparative Cuticle Oil throughout the day. You don’t need to moisturize your whole hand in this case, just spot treat the really dry areas. The built in drop tip applicator will help you apply with ease. Feel free to rub any excess oil onto your hands, or any dry skin…this formula is lightweight and nourishing—I use it all over!

Apply Nail Treatments Often

My Lauren B. Beauty Nail Growth Serum nourishes my nails and keeps them strong and healthy. I use it daily, along with my Polishing Hand Scrub, for noticeably stronger and faster growing nails. The powerful formula of my nail growth serum sinks deep into the nail matrix (the half moon part underneath your nails) to promote a healthy growing environment. Our scrub exfoliates and polishes skin wonderfully, leaving you with baby soft hands.

Keep Your Cuticles Groomed and Nails Short

I try to keep my nails on the shorter side, because it’s always better to have slightly shorter healthy nails than to have long brittle ones. Following a good nail care regimen, and paying attention to our hands, nails and cuticles is so important for optimal nail health. Following these tips along with using quality ingredients like those in my nail care products will help you to protect your nails and restore the youth of your hands and cuticles.

Go Dark, Be Bold!

Colder temps call for darker, muted colors. Say goodbye to the bright neons and pastels of summer and try a mega-dramatic shade like Lauren B. Beauty’s Laurel Canyon LoverHouse of Blues, or Hollywood Royalty – all popular picks for winter. (All these gorgeous colors were featured in the Goodbeing January box, too!)

It is time to pay attention and to be kind to our hands, nails, and cuticles! After all they carry us through life and are exposed to so much. Our hands show our first signs of aging. I love sharing how we can make small changes to protect and enhance our appearance and confidence through a healthy nail care regimen and quality products.

Thanks Lauren!
