When Kristin Voss asked herself what contribution could possibly be made to an already overly saturated market: the phrase “all you need is love” kept ringing in her ears. For her, love is tied very tightly to skincare. Kristin grew up with a mom who told her every day that I was smart, wonderful and more loved than anything in the world. Diagnosed with skin cancer when she was a child, she made sure that she was always protected and cared for her skin. Kristin took comfort in that love and felt nurtured and special. She considers what she thinks is most important in life in her products: love yourself, trust what is simple, and respect the wholesomeness of nature and the world around you. Her products reflect this mantra. They are made from simple ingredients, contain a natural SPF, and are made of only 100% organic ingredients that are found in nature. They do not create a new you. They reveal the beauty and radiance that had always been you.

If you were stranded on a desert island, what 3 (beauty & wellness) products could you not live without? (You have food and water)
Vitamin C & E. (Can that be one?) Combined they make a natural sunscreen. Any of my Lip Balms and Matcha
What is your morning beauty routine? Evening?
I splash cold water on my face to wake myself and my skin cells up and then I massage avocado oil under my eyes. Then coffee🙂
At night I wash my face with my organic soap, mist with my toner, and follow that with my serum and then, my Face Potion, and CALL IT A DAY.
What 3 tips or tricks can you share for feeling and looking your best?
I don’t think there’s really a trick to feeling your best. I think it basically comes from being aware and accepting of yourself. I believe in very basic simple truths I.E. leave things as you would like them to be left for you, be kind, be honest, be respectful. I think if you can do that, and be intrinsically happy with who you are, it comes through. You can’t eat make-up to be pretty on the inside.
What’s your favorite part about running KVoss?
Sharing my life & what I create with others and hearing how it’s affected/influenced/changed their lives. *I had a man who I met when I had my store in Bryant Park who is a trombone player. He started using my Face Potion, and in a few weeks he was sending me pictures of before and after of himself telling me, I had “changed his life forever.” He used to avoid mirrors, and he shied away from talking to people because he was so self-conscious. Once his skin was healthier his confidence was immediately positively affected, which helped him feel more comfortable.
What’s a trend in the beauty industry you’d like to see grow?
Non-toxic, chemical-free, organic skincare.
Of the products you make, which is your favorite?
My Bronzing Potion. It’s so great. Really. And I never say things like that. It’s so good for your skin, and you look like you just walked off the beach without the harmful rays!
What sets KVoss apart from other lines on the market today?
EVERYTHING. It’s handmade, handcrafted, and filled with so much love.
We all know healthy beauty starts with what we put in our bodies. What 3 tips can you share about beauty from the inside out? (think superfoods, supplements, teas, elixirs and the like)
Honestly, there’s so much unrealistic information out there. Every day there’s a new fad trend, or supplement, or superfood. Just drink A TON of water. Your skin LOVES water.
What do you do to stay active and why?
I run 8-10 miles a day. I’ve been running since I was 11. I’ve participated in multiple marathons and races and there is NOTHING that makes me feel as free as tying my sneakers, popping in my headphones, and hitting the pavement.
Do you have a favorite beauty boosting meal you’d like to share a recipe for?
I eat a good balance of raw and steamed vegetables. I don’t really “cook.” I kind of see food as fuel as I’m always working.
Do you have a hero? If so, who and why?
I think of having a hero as a risky investment; too much to lose for both the hero and the hero worshiper. Personally, I don’t want either role. A mentor is a wonderful thing, and I’ve been blessed with a few kind, smart souls along the way who have helped shape and provoke me. But to me, heroes are faultless – or at least thrust onto a pedestal – which is a dangerous thing. Life is imperfect, and so are we. It’s a beautiful thing to admire someone, but of course we are all human and constantly evolving.
What’s the hardest or most important life lesson you’ve learned?
That life IS precious. You never know how much time you have here so you need to make the most of every single second. If you want to do something, do it. If you want to change something, change it. If you love someone, tell them.
