Annmarie Skin Care was founded by healthy lifestyle bloggers Annmarie and Kevin Gianni in 2009. Their goal since then (and will always be) is to provide you with the best natural, wildcrafted and organic skin care, all natural makeup, and natural and organic essential oils.
Each product is handcrafted using their proprietary “Honest. Wild. Beautiful.” process – where they select the highest quality ingredients, infuse them in skin healthy oils and aloe then additionally craft them with potent plant extracts and nutrients to make them effective for every unique skin type. The result is beautiful, glowing skin.
We interviewed the fantastic Rachel Pachivas, COO of AnnMarie Gianni to find out more about her take on working for the California based company, ingredients to avoid, her daily skincare regime PLUS an amazing red dhal and plaintain pancakes recipe. Yum!

What is your morning beauty routine? Evening?
Having bit of an obsession with skin and skin care, I love to mix and match and create concoctions with whatever I can!
I am in my early thirties, with oily to combination skin that is a little sensitive. In the morning I will cleanse with our cream cleanser, the Aloe Herb Cleanser. I generally like to exfoliate in the mornings, so will rotate between our Dead Sea Facial Scrub & Mask (for a deeper exfoliation along with some relaxation time with letting it sit as a mask) and our Ayurvedic Scrub mixed with our Aloe Herb Cleanser (for a lighter exfoliation) every 2 to 3 days. So I will typically do a physical exfoliation 3 times in a week.
In the evenings, when I want to get all of the excess oil off of my face I cleanse with our gel cleanser, the Citrus Mint Cleanser. After my wash I blend in the Wild Fruit Serum all over my face, neck and decollete (LOVE this one), and then gently pat on a few dabs of the Anti-Aging Eye Cream around my eyes. In the morning, I will finish off with just a baby pump of the Herbal Facial Oil for Normal and Combination Skin to lightly press into my skin on my face and neck. In the evenings, I just omit the oil and stick with the serum and eye treatment.
Once a week it can be nice to do something a bit more detoxifying. I like to steam my face, put on a Purifying Mud Mask and relax in the bath with a few pumps of Coconut Body Oil. (Amazing!) Or I will play around with different fruits that act as a chemical exfoliant, or other exciting ingredients for my own DIY amazing treatments. These I will also do once a week.
I really suggest having with skin care and doing what feels right for you. Create masks with items in your kitchen, use base masks and add in specialty products (our Purifying Mud Mask with a little honey and apple cider vinegar), or just be simple. This is your time, so be you!
What 3 tips or tricks can you share for feeling and looking your best?
I know this may sound cliche, but drink lots of clean and pure water. You will notice a huge difference in your skin with the amount of clean water you consume.
Positive affirmations have changed my life. Really… look in the mirror and give yourself so much love.
Steer away from chemical laden products- this goes for skin care, home care, foods, etc… Stick with pure and organic things straight from nature.
I have to add in this fourth as it is so important – get good sleep. They don’t call it Beauty Rest just for fun… It’s real :)

What’s your favorite part about running Annmarie Skin Care?
We truly want everyone here to be happy and feel empowered. It’s more than just skin care here. Of course, we have organic skin care, pure and wild crafted, really AMAZING products.
But this company is so much more than that. We promote a sense of community; we have team lunches and fun outings, we talk about touchy subjects around the world, we come to work and express ourselves and our emotions, we create things together, we cultivate ideas and we share our ever evolving growth. We are working to create a culture that is more about having a way of life than just another typical job. Right now, we have a growing team of some pretty fascinating and powerful individuals, where everyone is playing a vital role in this company. We have this strong team creating the core of what we do here and how we communicate with the rest of the world.
Skin care is the perk though. These products are so divine, so real, and so pure, and you really can feel and see the difference. There is so much love that goes into the creation of these products – from the integrity and sourcing of our ingredients to the mindfulness and positive intention during production at the lab. I love skin care and wellbeing… so what’s better to work with a company that promotes both?
What’s a trend in the beauty industry you’d like to see grow?
Well, it is true that we are seeing more and more organic or natural skin care lines taking the lead. I love this! Every skin care line touches a different group of people… So keep em coming. I am hoping that the more organic products we bring into this industry, the less toxic ones we will see.
What beauty trend would you like to see disappear?
Many companies still do this and it can be so confusing for people who simply do not know these lies. Companies may tell you that something is pure and natural, have packaging and words to disillusion consumers into thinking it is a good product. The skin care industry regulations and transparency could use a bit of work.
Of the products you make, which is your favorite?
Currently, our Wild Fruit Serum! We just launched it, and I am completely in love with it!
What sets Annmarie Skin Care apart from other lines on the market today?
I was just recently having this conversation with a friend. They said – wow, what a risky business to get into – creating yet another skin care line. And I totally agreed! There are so many lines out there, why do we need more? Well… We ARE indeed quite different. A lot of the larger skin care companies out there are mass producing products that simply cannot be the freshest, cleanest and purest possible. They package in plastic, contain fillers or preservatives, or just do not have the desire to work with nature to create a line. The small lines that are doing good things, are great – using organics, small batches, etc… But to be quite honest, I have never come across a line like ours. Our formulator has been creating skin care for over 30 years and is an absolute genius when it comes to the skin and nature. She takes herbs and ingredients from nature and formulates them in such a way that works with your skin to actually give you noticeable results. We don’t ever compromise our integrity for the newest and latest fad. We stay true to our mission of providing real skincare while promising glowing skin.
We all know healthy beauty starts with what we put in our bodies. What 3 tips can you share about beauty from the inside out? (think superfoods, supplements, teas, elixirs and the like)
Oh my this is so difficult, as there are so many amazing things you can take for benefiting your skin.
Drink something green daily – whether it’s a green smoothie with little or no fruit, green juice, or an alkalizing green soup. Get your daily intake of greens.
Every morning drink hot water with lemon. Lemon does wonders for your skin.
An elixir that I like to make is lemon, turmeric, a little honey and a baby bit of ginger- all in the blender of your choice with a cup or two of pure water, blend, strain and enjoy!
Serious stuff. Which ingredients do you avoid at all costs?
benzoyl peroxide, fragrance, parabens, triclosan, or PEGs (polyethylene glycols) just to name a few.
What do you do to stay active and why?
I know, it is so difficult making the time to get some activity in. But it is SO important. I will do whatever I can to always have some form of exercise – dancing in my living room is probably my go-to, then rock climbing, playing soccer with my boyfriend (no, I’m not good… but it sure is fun and some good movement), power yoga, or just 20 minutes doing some fun things at the gym.
Do you have a favorite beauty boosting meal you’d like to share a recipe for?
I am so bad at following recipes. haha. But lately, I am really loving making this one dish: Red lentil dahl, with a custom pesto, plantain pancakes, and a fresh salad.
I make a red lentil dahl dish:
- 1 ¼ cups of red split lentils
- 1 large Onion, peeled and chopped
- 5 Garlic cloves
- 1 tsp of coconut oil
- 1 heaped tsp ground coriander
- 1 heaped tsp grated turmeric
- ½ teaspoon of cumin
- ½ teaspoon of freshly grated ginger
- 3 ⅔ cups of water
Instructions 1. Wash the lentils well in a strainer and check for any grit lurking among them. In a large saucepan, soften the onion and garlic in the coconut oil, then add in the spices over low heat. Don’t let the onion brown – add a little water if necessary. 2. Add the lentils, water, and bring to a boil. Lower the heat and let simmer for about an hour, stirring regularly to make sure the dahl is not sticking. If it starts to get too thick, add a little more water. 3. I like to add in broccoli and shitake mushrooms into this during the time the lentils are cooking.
With this I will make a herb pesto – using lots of basil, cilantro, and a little oregano (2 cups of chopped herbs total) add to your blender and add in olive oil (¾ cup), 3-4 cloves of garlic, ¼ cup of apple cider vinegar, ¼ cup of red wine vinegar, 1 tsp of salt and 1 shallot. Blend and enjoy!
Then I really enjoy making plantain pancakes – Take 3 very green plantains, peel them and chop into 2” pieces. Place into blender. Add 1 cup of water, blend. Then add in ⅓ cup of coconut oil, blend. Take your final mix and pour into 3”- 4” round circles on a baking sheet (be sure to use parchment paper), then bake at 400° for about 25 minutes or until golden brown. These are super tasty and you don’t have to worry about the guilt of gluten, dairy or sugar.
Lastly, I will make a massive salad with local greens, pea shoots, radishes, cucumbers, and tomatoes.
For dessert- frozen cherries are my thing! They are soooo good for your skin and not too sweet.
Not including your own brand, what are 3 of your must have beauty/wellness products?
Hmmm. This one is difficult as I do make a lot of my own specialty masks and scrubs. But I absolutely love using peels, and haven’t dived into that one yet, at home. One that is fantastic is Mychelle’s Perfect C PRO Speed Peel. I use this once a week, or every two weeks. The second product would have to be Host Defense® MyCommunity® Mushroom Capsules. This brand is incredible and keeps me feeling great! Lastly, I would have to choose Badgers’s Organic Cocoa Butter Lip Balm – Creamy Cocoa. This is by far one of the best lip balms I have ever used. Definitely give it a go.
Do you have a hero? If so, who and why?
So many people are heroic to me – especially ones who are doing something to make the world a better place. One person in particular would have to be my brother. Although he isn’t out there changing laws and shaking things up… He is changing the world by his love. He is such a loving and caring individual who will do as much as he can for whoever needs it. Even when he doesn’t have anything to give, he will give everything. Love him!
What’s the hardest or most important life lesson you’ve learned?
To not ever hold on to something bad that happens to you. We create our reality… and if we can let the bad things that happen to us go, and hold on to the good, our lives are so much better. Another would be to find so much value and beauty in you. Don’t ever rely on another human to give you validation… put that energy into your purpose and causes that give you drive and motivation.
Any beauty/wellness myth’s you’d like to bust?
Oh my, the ongoing thoughts around oil. I hear so often: “but oil is going to make me break out.” My response to that? No, it’s not. Oil is so good for your skin, especially if you have oily skin, I promise. Oil does not make it worse; in fact, it makes it better. Try it!
