Developed by Tricia Trimble after losing her mother to skin cancer, this beauty-boosting, mineral based sun care line encourages the importance of daily sun protection. Suntegrity sunscreens feature non-nano zinc oxide which provides broad spectrum protection to shield against the sun’s damaging UVA/UVB rays. Each product is formulated with antioxidants and amino acids to help repair and improve appearance. All of their sunscreens earned top scores on the EWG’s 2017 Sunscreen Guide.

What sets Suntegrity apart from other lines on the market today?
We use a very large amount (20% in our sunscreens/18% in our lipsticks) of non-nano size zinc oxide as the only active ingredient in our sunscreens. This high quantity of zinc not only provides excellent UVA/UVB Broad Spectrum protection, but it also has very therapeutic benefits to the skin. All of our sunscreens (not just one or two) have also received a 1 score rating in the EWG’s yearly sunscreen guide. Additionally, all of our products are packed with antioxidants and are multi-tasking (ie. they do the job of 2-4 products all in one).
What was the first product available to customers to purchase?
Our very first product was our Natural Moisturizing Face Sunscreen & Primer which won an Allure Best of Beauty Award for Natural Wonders in 2013.
Of the products you make, which is your favorite?
My favorite product is our 5 in 1 Natural Moisturizing Face Sunscreen. I wear it in place of foundation and love how it makes my skin look.
What is your morning routine? evening?
Since the beginning of the year, I’ve been taking Kundalini Yoga Teacher Training, so I’m now in the habit of doing a morning Sadhana (a 30 minute routine with pranayam (breathing), asana (movement) and meditation. After that, I like to make an almond milk latte in my Nespresso machine while chatting with my best friend. If I don’t have time to do the morning Sadhana, then I do it in the evening after I do my evening skincare routine.
AM/PM Skincare Routine:
1) Remove makeup with Suntegrity Vanish Oil Cleanser (PM ONLY)
2) Wash face with Osea’s Ocean Cleanser (AM/PM)
3) Tone face with a aromatherapy toner (AM/PM)
4) Apply Suntegrity Rebound Serum (AM/PM) & then Suntegrity 5 in 1 Tinted Face Sunscreen (AM ONLY)
5) Brush & Floss teeth and follow with a tongue scape.
What 3 tips or tricks can you share for feeling and looking your best?
I think we look good when we feel happy and for me, I’m the happiest when I’ve had a meaningful connection with a friend. I talk with my best friend almost every day and I’m lucky enough to work with one of my dearest, long time friends. I also think learning is super important to how you feel and look. I love learning new things and I’m constantly taking a new class or listening to an audiobook. And then, of course there are the beauty basics like getting enough beauty sleep, water intake and nutritious food.
What beauty trend would you like to see disappear?
Cat nails – all I can think of is please don’t scratch me! I prefer a more natural looking, square nail.
Any beauty/wellness myths you’d like to bust?
I think there is a myth that if you keep reapplying sunscreen then you can continue to stay out in the sun safely. However, if your unprotected skin would take five minutes to show signs of burning, then properly applying SPF 30 sunscreen would slow the rate of burning to the point where it would take 30 times longer to burn, or 150 minutes in total and you would need to reapply at the 120 mark or sooner if you’ve been swimming/sweating/towel drying. This means that you really should get out of the sun at the 150 minute mark (even if you reapplied) to avoid sun damage.
Serious stuff. Which ingredients do you avoid at all costs?
UV chemical sunscreen actives like oxybenzone, octinoxate. octisalate, octocrylene. Luckily, Hawaii just banned two of them (octinoxate and oxybenzone) and hopefully, more states will adopt this policy, too!
We all know healthy beauty starts with what we put in our bodies. What 3 tips can you share about beauty from the inside out?
1) Maintaining hydration is key. You should drink 1/2 your body weight in ounces per day (ie. if you weigh 130 lbs, then you should drink 65 ounces of water a day).
2) Eat lots of good fats like avocado and olive oil.
3) Supplement your diet with probiotics or probiotic rich foods to help maintain a healthy gut.
What do you do to stay active and why?
I stay active by either going to yoga, going for long walks with friends or using the elliptical or stair master at the gym. I like to stay active because it releases natural endorphins which make me feel good. I love yoga because it allows me to connect with my higher self; long walks with friends because it allows me to connect others and the elliptical and stair master because it gives me something positive to do while I listen to books.
Do you have a favorite beauty boosting meal you’d like to share a recipe for?
My two favorite beauty-boosting foods are avocado and grilled salmon. An easy meal that combines them both is grilled salmon on a bed of romaine or butter lettuce tossed with grilled asparagus/zucchini. I like to also add avocado slices tossed in a lemon, mustard vinaigrette.
Do you have a hero? If so, who and why?
Mary Hulnick, the Co-Founder of the University of Santa Monica. She is one of the most compassionate and insightful people I’ve ever met. The way she interacts and communicates with people is heart-felt and masterful and I am honored to have been able to watch and learn from her as one of my teachers in the Masters program in Spiritual Psychology at USM.
What’s the hardest or most important life lesson you’ve learned?
You are always your best investment! The times when I invested in other people’s businesses, I was disappointed with the results. Now, I invest in my own business.
